Also available at some hotels in Hanoi. The internet rarely mentions this, but it's useful for storing large luggage if doing Sapa trek then returning to Hanoi for flight. Sapa has steep streets and homestays may not have elevators - consider storing trekking bags and taking only backpack to Sapa.
Is it better to visit Sapa as day trip or overnight?
Minimum 2 nights recommended. Day trip: 10-12 hours travel leaves no time. 1 night: Arrive afternoon, next morning trek, afternoon return - rushed. 2 nights: Proper trekking, see minority villages, enjoy scenery. I've done 1, 2, and 3 nights - 2 is minimum for first visit. The internet promotes day trips but they're exhausting and you miss Sapa's beauty. Better to skip Sapa than do a day trip. If short on time, consider Ninh Binh or Mai Chau instead - closer to Hanoi.
